Let's Play is a show that spawned from RFS Media Productions in the middle of 2007 following the cancellation of The Radio F Show
. Immediately after The Radio F Show there were plans made for a show similar to Mystery Science Theater using $1 DVDs from Wal-Mart, but when thoughts of copyright violation claims came into play the idea was reworked into one that involved video games instead of movies, as there is no copyright in using video game footage in a show.

Let's Play was originally meant to be (and derived its name from) a series where the hosts would play an entire game spanning numerous episodes and offer more of a walkthrough instead of a commentary humor show. When it was concluded that nobody wanted to see twenty-two episodes of "Puggsy", the show was put on hiatus and shelved for several months until it was once again brought out in May 2008 and completely reformatted into a new kind of commentary show. This time the format of the television series Cheap Seats was borrowed and Let's Play was intended to focus more on scripted commentary along with segments such as "Do You Care", "What To Look For", and "The Golden E.T.'s". When it came time to construct a set and find a way to efficiently produce the show Let's Play once again hit a roadblock and was put on a seemingly indefinate hold. During this time period the show's original producer RFS Media Productions folded and broke up, tossing the video game series into a development hell.

Two former key players of RFS Media Productions stuck together and brought back the name Twilight Foundry, a group that was active in 2001 - 2004 and known for their satire of video game culture. With Let's Play unsigned at the time Twilight Foundry had their opportunity waiting for them. Let's Play was taken off the shelf one last time and carried to completion with the oversight of only a handful of people. Borrowing the visual effect of a television reflection through the use of a green screen from the series Broken Pixels, Twilight Foundry was ready to shoot the first audio/video production to their name.
